The Opportunity

This position works out of our Livermore, California location in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

This position is responsible for planning, directing and end-to-end managing of projects within the Abbott Heart Failure (HF) Division’s Acelis Connected Health (ACH) Business Unit (BU) in the PMO function. This includes the intake of initiatives through project startup to project closure spanning multiple functions within the ACH BU. This position is chiefly focused on all activities spanning the entire lifecycle of a project. Some major activities of the Project Manager, across the project management lifecycle may be the following: project governance, business and stakeholder engagement, project scope definition and management, project change management, project communications and reporting, project planning through execution, project closure and assistance in post implementation assessment and review.

The Project Manager in this role will champion the PMO function, ensuring that the projects are aligned to the BU strategy, with projects prioritized, funded and initiated. This role will interact with, but not limited to, the BU functional leaders and Division functional leaders, as needed. The role will be responsible for the project management of the delivery of projects starting with the successful transition from initiation/intake to execution of project and ultimately closure, ensuring an achievable and successful outcome.

They will work closely with the functions within the BU to ensure a well communicated project of change activities with strong alignment to BU priorities. He/She will also be a key point of contact for the project(s), new initiatives, or changes to ongoing initiatives. The role shall be office based with travel expected, when necessary. There will be significant extent of project coordination and execution whilst transitioning approved projects to execution and delivery.

This job function has accountability for complying with the applicable standards of Division Project Management Methodology and elements of the Division Quality System, as applicable.

What You’ll Work On

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Project Planning: Ability to create a detailed project plan with logical work breakdown structure with resource assignments, dependencies, dates and milestones.

  • Governance & Engagement: Sponsor’s engagement, governance definition, intake of initiatives, Business Unit strategy alignment (to projects), dependency mapping and coordination, risk management and project documentation and reporting.

  • Communications: Stakeholder mapping, expectations capture, communication plans, involvement and sponsorship to initiatives and project portfolio reporting.

  • Scope and Business Change Management: Intake coordination, initiatives pipeline management and tracking, value/synergy realization, high level requirements and scope capture, change, impact & decision coordination, facilitate investment decisions, assistance to RCEs & financial submissions (as required), transition planning and coordination from initiative to project/program execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Fluent business English speaker with good interpersonal, excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Science/Engineering/Business.

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in Project Management/Program Management in Medical Devices projects with demonstrable evidence of effective execution and sustained compliance to project management standards.

  • Experience in handling and delivering multiple projects (no more than 3, no larger than medium scale) at the same time.

  • Cross-regional exposure and experience, operating across multiple time zones.

  • Experienced in working with cross functional teams such as Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience preferred.

  • PMP or equivalent.

  • Strong understanding of VAD DME business is desirable.

  • Strong technology awareness in line with technologies in use across the Division (e.g. MS. Office, SharePoint, MS Visio, MS Teams, Smartsheet or a related PM tool).

  • Experience of leading and implementing change initiatives and active stakeholder management.

  • Experience of working with culturally diverse groups of people, able to communicate effectively at all levels of the business, and with both technical and non-technical people, adapting approach to suit the audience.

  • Attention to details by documenting meetings, action items and objectives.

The base pay for this position is $73,600.00 – $147,200.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
