Department Summary

Surpassing network limitations of the past, our Wireless Deployment organization is building the country’s first virtualized, standalone 5G wireless network. This is the foundation of a connected world flexible enough to satisfy all the social, economic and transformative needs of the changing world.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

This position will support our Open RAN Center for Integration and Deployment (ORCID), serving a critical role in strengthening the global Open RAN ecosystem and building the next generation of wireless networks.

In the ORCID lab, you will:

  • Define the technical vision for the ORCID program and craft project proposals for industry coalitions.

  • Lead coalitions to implement O-RAN vision and roadmap through open implementations.

  • Advise on design of 5G open RAN solutions and compatible open source components.

  • Collaborate hands-on with developers, leveraging vendor experience in open RAN solutions.

  • Advocate for cloud-centric platforms in next-generation open RAN solutions.

  • Support community contributions, fostering project and ecosystem growth.

  • Analyze customer technology, develop technical proposals, support deployment, and facilitate knowledge transfer and documentation.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

As a successful Principal ORAN Standards Engineer, you will have:

  • BS or MS in Engineering or Technical field, or equivalent experience.

  • Over 10 years of experience in the wireless industry.

  • 3+ years of experience with ORAN design and implementation.

  • Expertise in advising on design of 5G open RAN solutions.

  • Knowledgeable in Radio Access Network (RAN) design and virtualization.

  • Proficient with Linux-based platforms and building 5G/LTE RAN software stacks.

  • Familiarity with RAN networking protocols, O-RAN architecture, RAN optimization, TCP/IP networking, and cloud technologies.

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $127,050.00/Year - $203,725.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
