Description: Plans and manages all aspects of mechanical hardware fabrication including metallic machining, chemical finishing and mechanical assembly for structures and mechanisms. Reviews and approves engineering drawings and specifications, writes work instructions and bills of materials. Ensures that projects are completed on schedule following established procedures, schedules, and work plans. Maintains awareness of daily/weekly tasks/assignments to deliver products within budgetary and schedule constraints. Works closely with shop supervision, technicians, MRP controllers, production leads and program to ensure successful hardware fabrication. Flexible work schedule. Business needs may require occasional second shift and weekend support as needed.

This position will directly support the fabrication of flight and non-flight walk-in work for Metallic Machining, Mechanisms Assembly and Composites Structures.

Desired Skills: Knowledge and experience in CNC and conventional machining of metallic details.

Computer skills including SAP/VECams (or other MRP/Work Instruction software).

Experience writing work instructions for fabrication of mechanical details and assemblies.

Project management skills.

Familiar with lean manufacturing and process improvements.

Experience with DFx (i.e. design for manufacturing, design to cost, design to schedule, design for assembly, etc.).

Experience working with hourly personnel on a production shop floor.


Familiarity with mechanical manufacturing and mechanical assembly / processes.

Familiarity with mechanical engineering drawings and bill of materials.

Ability to read and interpret a mechanical design with a basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Extensive Microsoft Office software experience.

Must be able to work in a team environment with good organizational / communication skills.

Must have a B.S. in a related field of study like Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
