Lockheed Martin Guidance Navigation & Control Manager in Littleton, Colorado
Manager for the Guidance, Navigation & Control (GN&C) Subsystem for the Orion Program. Candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the Orion GN&C subsystem addressing critical flight phases for the Orion deep space exploration vehicle including design, development, test, verification and flight support. Duties include leading a large, geographically dispersed GN&C team in partnership with NASA on the Orion Program. Candidate will manage budget, schedule and technical content of all GN&C products and be responsible for developing and maintaining the GN&C team. This includes employee recruitment, training, performance assessment, and work assignments. Additional duties include preparing and presenting technical and programmatic topics to Program Management and the NASA customer. Candidate will manage all GNC Program Tasks and provide support for related Central Engineering Initiatives.
Basic Qualifications 1. Proven Leadership skills for a high performance engineering team balancing technical, cost, and schedule objectives. 2. BS in engineering with at least 12 years of related technical experience or MS in engineering with at least 10 years related technical experience. 3. Familiarity with GN&C subsystems and systems engineering processes and experience in applying those processes. 4. Experience with Guidance, Navigation and Control planning and execution for the design, development, implementation, verification and testing algorithms to perform guidance, navigation and control of space systems. 5. Familiarity with GN&C Subsystem architecture, verification and testing of GN&C flight software and hardware. 6. Familiarity and experience in cost control account management (CAM). 7. Ability to balance various risks across the subsystem to maintain cost within a fixed schedule environment. 8. Communication skills including the ability to speak, write and listen in a manner that clarifies issues, promotes closure, and delivers information in a clear and concise manner and facilitates decision making.
Desired skills Minimum of 8 years engineering experience in GN&C DDT&E. - Leadership experience in Orion GN&C Design/Development. - Experience with Safety Critical Human Spaceflight systems. - Familiarity with NASA customer, and Orion Mission Objectives. - Experience with GNC products and tools associated with Spacecraft DDT&E phase. - GNC H/W and S/W experience for Space Vehicle Systems. - Master’s Degree in GNC related field.
