Intermountain Health Patient Account Representative Lead - Government in Little Rock, Arkansas

Job Description:

This position is responsible for billing, follow-up, and resolving issues that delay or prevent payment of the patient account within Intermountains policies and procedures.

Scope

As a Patient Account Rep Lead you need to know how to:

Serve as a subject matter expert, resource and mentor to others within the department. Train new associates and provide feedback on work performance.

Research and follow up on outstanding claims. Document and appropriately file in the computer system all correspondence and action taken on an account. Follow up in accordance to procedures and policies with an overall goal of account resolution.

Monitor assigned outstanding claims and proactively identify, research and propose solutions to trends. Provide feedback to management regarding problem payers and specific reimbursement problems.

Ensure proactive cash flow by maximizing reimbursement and reducing accounts receivable.

Monitor and track quality assurance metrics within the department.

May be assigned to work with patient accounts associated to one or more specialized areas or insurance payers. This is including but not limited to: acute, ambulatory, medical specialty, provider based, commercial, government, or third-party payers.

Keep current in payer and contract terms, updates, billing policies and navigation of respective payer websites. Interpret payer contract summaries with advanced understanding to evaluate under and over payments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in medical billing/patient accounts, required

  • General computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, required

  • Advanced level knowledge of medical billing, insurance, and compliance regulations and coding, required

  • Medical terminology knowledge, required

  • Advanced knowledge of EPIC charting system, required

  • At least five (5) years of experience in medical billing/patient accounts, preferred- Hospital/physician billing or claims follow-up experience, preferred

Physical Requirements:

Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.- and -Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.- and -See and read computer monitors and documents.- and -Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.- and -May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.
