UPMC PVL Technologist Advanced - PRN in Lititz, Pennsylvania

Perform noninvasive Peripheral Vascular studies including (but not restricted to) arterial and venous duplex imaging with color flow Doppler, noninvasive arterial testing (pulse volume recordings/segmental limb pressures), visceral abdominal duplex imaging with color flow Doppler, extracranial duplex imaging with color flow Doppler, and other noninvasive vascular tests assigned.

This position will work as needed for day shift and evening shifts with call rotation for weekends, overnights and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general information to patients and their significant others while performing vascular testing. Obtain detailed, accurate history on vascular patients.

  • Display ability to troubleshoot problems with equipment and computer terminals and make minor repairs.

  • Assist Director with daily operations of the Peripheral Vascular Lab.

  • Under the supervision of the Director, participates in the planning and implementation of projects for improving Organizational Performance.

  • Assist other staff members and hospital personnel in completion of needed tasks. Make patient care and/or interdepartmental service the number one priority.

  • Obtain and calculate tracing, spectral analyses and analog waveforms for vascular tests. Enter data in computer and maintains data integrity.

  • Participate in the training of new staff and students. Participate in continuing education within the department.

  • Perform all studies offered in the Peripheral Vascular lab within six months of starting date. Maintain safety of vascular patients while in the department.

  • Completion of formal training in an accredited Vascular Technology or Ultrasound program required or RVT or equivalent credential required.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a progressive Vascular lab is required. Competency in all areas of non-invasive vascular testing.

  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy in order to provide physicians with preliminary test interpretations, to recommend vascular testing and to scan appropriate vessels.

  • Knowledge of Doppler and ultrasound physics when performing vascular exams.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Registry required RVT or Equivalent credential. CPR or BLS Required. Act 33, 34, 73 or as required by business unit.

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) OR Registered Vascular Technologist

  • Act 34
