We are currently looking to hire a Technical Trainer for our Lititz, Pennsylvania facility.  You will be responsible for conducting training sessions, and assisting with the development of content, for new and existing employees, primarily for mechanical assembly and hand soldering workmanship processes.

Position Summary: The Technical Trainer requires the ability to develop and implement corporate training sessions for new and existing employees. Activities typically include scheduling and conducting both classroom lecture and hands on demonstrations, support for corporate documentation updates, frequent evaluations of training plan effectiveness, and assisting in corporate training database maintenance and record retention.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Instruction of corporate documentation and workmanship skills for employees (new and existing).
  • Assess skills trained during class and reporting assessment with Training Manager and Human Resource department.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of hand tools, electronic equipment (computers/tablets, microscopes and cameras) as well as standard measuring tools.
  • Assist with scheduling and tracking new and existing training.
  • Assist with addition of employees into the learning management system, course assignment.
  • Develop and maintain lesson plan materials for pre-hire testing and existing employee needs.
  • Develop and conduct surveys to evaluate effectiveness of the training.
  • Performs visual and mechanical inspections.
  • Responsible for keeping the training department equipment and materials within shelf life and calibration.
  • Support the creation of training in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Work with Quality Engineers and Supervisors in the disposition of non-conforming material in need of repair work.
  • Perform year end maintenance of training files containing workmanship samples.
  • Assist with one on one training sessions if requested.
  • Assist in supporting Quality Assurance and Manufacturing as required by the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support business goals and objectives.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Highly effective communication (oral, written and presentation) skills, strong interpersonal skills, and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Business suite, specifically MS PowerPoint, previous experience with corporate databases or ERP systems and learning management systems.
  • Ability to take initiative, to meet deadlines, and to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Possesses high attention to detail and problem solving skills with ability to complete a wide range of tasks of moderate complexity using advanced technical judgement and critical thinking.

  • Ability to learn technical skills specifically mechanical assembly and hand soldering skills (terminal wiring, circuit card assembly (plated through-hole and surface mount technology)).

  • Ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines and to work in a team environment.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified IPC J-STD-001 (CIT), Requirements for Soldering Electrical and Electronic Assemblies required, 3+ years' experience preferred.
  • Current certification IPC-A-610, preferred.
  • 5 years' experience in electronics/m nufacturing environment with a strong knowledge of mechanical assembly and soldering of circuit cards and electronic components or equivalent accomplishments.
  • Background in training, teaching and/or mentoring with 1+ years' experience teaching in a formal classroom setting.
  • Ability to pass visual acuity exam per internal documented requirements or NASA's requirement.
  • Experience with or knowledge of DOD programs or meeting Military Specified Requirements a plus, but not required.
  • A working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Basic knowledge of technical drawings with ability to read and understand markings and symbols.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance.

Work Environment:

  • Office Environment:  Requires physical capability to work in an office environment including sit/stand up to 9 hours a day and use basic office tools such as a computer, copier/printer, etc. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Hours: 6:00 AM -- 3:30 PM Monday -- Thursday; Friday 6:00 AM -- 2:30 PM with additional hours as needed to meet demand. Occasional off-shift hours may also be required to provide support to operations.
  • 9/80 work schedule.
  • Office located in Lititz, PA, with occasional visits to Lancaster facility.
