Traveling Safety Trainer

Location: Southern California Region – based in Pomona or Calabasas (Up to 70% Travel Required)

Pay range for this position is between $40-$45 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and Document Behind-the-Wheel Training: Travel to various locations in the Region to conduct and document required behind-the-wheel training sessions for drivers, ensuring adherence to company regulations and state laws while maintaining focus on passing a high percentage of candidates.

  • Participate in Safety Meetings: Engage in monthly safety meetings, contributing expertise and insights to promote a culture of safety and compliance.

  • Conduct On-Going Driver Evaluations: Travel to conduct and document semi-annual behind-the-wheel driver evaluations and Driver retraining, ensuring ongoing driver competency and compliance.

  • Support Safety Programs: Assist in the development and administration of customer safety awareness programs and company-sponsored safety initiatives to enhance overall safety standards.

  • Coordinate License Expirations: Work closely with safety and training supervisors to notify drivers of upcoming license and/or certificate expiration dates, ensuring timely renewal and compliance.

  • Additional Duties: Undertake any other duties as assigned by management to support the effective operation of Durham School Services.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant years of experience.

  • Must be fully credentialed school bus driver trainer in the state of California

  • Commercial driving experience required.

  • Thorough knowledge of company regulations and state laws related to student transportation.

  • Must have appropriate vehicle class license, current medical certification, and school bus driver’s certificate.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse individuals.

  • Proficiency in adult training techniques.

  • Computer literacy, including word processing and spreadsheet software.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, including multitasking and time management.

  • Basic math skills required.
