Navistar, Inc. Senior Engineering Manager-Central Systems in Lisle, Illinois

Position Overview

Navistar’s Central Systems and Electrical Architecture (CSEA) team develops system level requirements for Navistar’s vehicle functions, as well as defines vehicle network, functional and communications architecture constructs. The Engineering Manager, Central Systems, will be responsible for managing the work of the systems engineering portion of the organization while supporting tactical technical tasks as necessary.

This position will be located at Navistar’s design center in Lisle, Illinois. Occasional support may also be required at Navistar’s test and production facilities, as well as occasional onsite support at suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Management for the Central Systems team, including personnel and technical leadership

  • Development and leadership of the Central Systems development process

  • Lead development of electrical system specifications and requirements

  • Ensure completion of system FMEA documentation

  • Problem solving and implementing solutions to hardware and control software issues

  • Work in a team and contribute to the continuous improvement activities through participation in Lean projects, technical knowledge capture, process improvements etc.

  • Mentor less experienced engineers

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

OR

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

OR

  • PhD in Engineering , Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 4 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

Additional Requirements

Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Engineering leadership and/or personnel management

  • Workload management including, but not limited to, tools such as Jira

  • Engineering process development

  • Experience in functional areas, such as Electric Vehicle Electronics, Embedded vehicle electronics, Central system functionality (i.e. Odometer, Power Controls, etc), Vehicle Communications and Network, Cybersecurity

  • Experience in architectural functional areas, such as Functional Safety (ISO26262), Vehicle Communications and Network, Cybersecurity

  • Experience with Vehicle Control System design

  • Experience with engineering and quality design and development methodologies: (8D, FMEA, DVP&R)
