Sales Engineer (Peru)

Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide. We are seeking a Sales Engineer in Lima, Peru. This position is responsible for all aspects of sales and service with primary concentration Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador.

Key Duties:

  • Plan, organize, maintain and develop a refractory sales territory.

  • Maintain existing customer base as well as obtain new customers to maximize sales. Cold calling and prospecting required for new account development.

  • Sell to and maintain relationships with customers of key industries including foundry, steel, heat treat and forge, mining and smelting, power generation and other industrial applications which require refractories.

  • Be accountable for the entire sales process:

  • Prospect new opportunities with current and new accounts.

  • Obtain purchase order.

  • Interact with customer service to assure order is correctly entered and customer required delivery is met.

  • Coordinate field service support if needed.

  • Be present for product installation and document material installation and application.

  • Create case studies when appropriate for new applications.

  • Communicate weekly through Allied’s call report system: opportunities, activity, applications, industry news from meetings and conversations with customers.

  • Complete sales reports, forecasting, expense reports and other reporting requirements in a timely manner meeting required deadlines.

  • Use all the resources available to Allied in order to educate and motivate distributors so that representation in those countries is equal to that in the United States.

  • Work closely with distributors and OEM’s in order to maintain a relationship based on trust, confidence and reliability.

  • Participate in trade shows and other industry meetings.

  • Plan and implement a business strategy for the assigned markets.

  • Maintain and keep current records and customer files, customer order and quote logs, trial sheets, call books, and potential sheets in an orderly and updated manner.

  • Prepare and present effective sales presentations for new or existing customers.

  • Service all accounts as needed, including installation and troubleshooting.

  • Must be willing to travel internationally as needed.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business or technical discipline, or equivalent experience desired.

  • A minimum of five years of experience in industrial sales, industrial projects and/or industrial operations desired.

  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, ideally in English and Spanish.

  • Strong interpersonal skills are required. Must have the ability to develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships, internally and externally, with co-workers, partners and customers.

  • Must have a practical approach to problem solving and be able to work well with engineers and operators to resolve issues related to products and processes.

  • A solid understanding of refractories and technical information on ceramics is beneficial and must demonstrate a desire and ability to learn quickly.

  • Must be comfortable operating in factories and industrial environments.

  • Must demonstrate a high level of energy and be self-motivated.

  • Must be proficient with MS Office applications.

  • Must possess a US Visa or be willing and able to obtain one.

Working Environment

  • Work out of home-based office.

  • Frequently working in heavy industry locations.

  • Required to wear appropriate PPE per Allied’s Safety & Health policy.
