GENERAL DYNAMICS LAND SYSTEMS INC Liaison Engineer Staff in Lima, Ohio

Position Description: - This Engineer position will function as a product engineering representative for the manufacturing of various military vehicle programs, including but not limited to the Abrams Main Battle Tank. The selected individual in this position will function as/or perform the following: - Vehicle expert for combat vehicle manufacturing reporting to the Engineering Manager at Lima. - Primary technical liaison for Abrams with interface to and coordination with various levels of GDLS (local and division personnel) and the customer organization. - Flat file development and maintenance. - Execute Engineering Change impacts. - Ability to perform as an Abrams product specialist in an autonomous capacity as interface with GDLS division and customer. - Support Abrams vehicle induction inspection at customer storage locations (ANAD, Sierra). Position Requirements: - Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related technical field preferred. Associates Degree with extensive Abrams Mfg. experience will be considered - Minimum of 10 years industry experience. - US Citizenship required and must be 18 years of age. - Must successfully complete background check and pre-employment medical process including a drug screen - Must be able to obtain/maintain DOD Secret Security clearance - Must be able to obtain unescorted access to the JSMC facility through the vetting process as administered by the Department of Army Police as well as gain access to other military bases as required. - Functional understanding of GD&T desirable. - Possess ability to: Develop armored vehicle design definition (TDP) via flat file process Provide Program/ Product level leadership with GDLS division and customer program representatives - Able to perform problem solving and root cause analysis. - Combat vehicle operational and systems level knowledge desirable. - Excellent written and oral presentation skills. - Proficient with computers and software including MS Office, Pro-Engineer, Creo, Team Center, etc. - Occasional travel required (both CONUS and OCONUS). - Must provide adherence to CUI environment requirements. - Demonstrated team leadership skills and ability to work in a teaming environment with a bargaining unit workforce. - Provide liaison engineering floor support as required. - Must be able to meet Anthropometric Size Requirements (ASR) for vehicle safe entry. - Fluent with Abrams design configuration, vehicle completion processes and supply chain. - Must be able to work independently or with minimum oversight to address responsibilities. - Working Conditions & Environment: Using ladders and stairs to climb into/onto vehicle structures. Climbing, walking, bending, kneeling, standing, and stooping. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Working in and around dust, fumes, oils, mists, adhesives and in areas with a high noise volume. Working in hot and cold environments. Depending upon departmental assignment, wearing a respirator may be required. This position requires working in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
