The Children's Home of Wyoming ( CHOWC) Residential Childcare Worker in Liberty, New York

Overview: The Children's Home of Wyoming is seeking Part-time Residential Childcare Workers in Liberty.

The Residential Childcare Worker provides support to youth ages 10-17 in a residential setting. The Child Care Workers will work effectively with clients, families, staff, and community contacts with a diversity of backgrounds and life situations. The individuals in this role will create and maintain an atmosphere which is beneficial to the physical and emotional health of youth.

Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with the children and their families that are responsive to their needs and are in accordance with the established treatment plan. Provide for the safety and well-being of the children in care through the judicious use of knowledge and supervision of their whereabouts, attention to their needs and remembrance of their unique life situation. Provide for the growth and development of each child in care through instructing, counseling and directing them in matters of personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, social skills, school, routines and work habits. Practice trained techniques in CARE, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and any other agency or department specific methods of interacting with and supporting the children. Use of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Techniques will be practiced in conjunction with other therapeutic methods when supporting children through crises. Be responsible for the security of the unit and unit office areas. This includes the safe and files, funds and any confidential material. Assure confidentiality of each childs case through only necessary discussion at appropriate time and place. Provide safe and responsible transports for youth, families, and other Childrens Home affiliates as required by program expectations. Provide for the recreational needs and leisure time activities of children in care by planning, supervising and participating in activities both within and away from the unit setting. Confer with recreation department as needed.

Shift, Salary and Benefits: This is a part-time position, Monday-Sunday, Hours Vary 11 AM to 7 PM, $18.00 to $19.00 hourly. Benefits include; Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Leave, Holidays, and 401K/Retirement.
