Join us and help design the future of energy forecasting. Itron is the industry-leading provider of electric and gas forecasting consulting services, training, and software. Our clients include gas and electric utilities, Independent System Operators, transmission companies, and retail energy providers. We provide software and forecasting support to companies in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Our forecast work includes everything from 5-minute real time forecast systems for electric grid operation to forecasts that extend out as far as 30 years to support long-term electric load capacity planning. Working with a team of energy forecasting experts, you will help us design and build the next generation of energy forecasting solutions to support a global client base. The forecasting development team is made up of two small remote teams, one based in North America and the other based in India. As the leader of these teams, you will be responsible for working with the U.S. based product management and delivery teams to define the features required to meet the forecasting business objectives. You will own the team backlogs and be responsible for working with the teams to refine, estimate, and execute the backlog and you will lead the teams through our formal Scaled Agile planning processes. In addition, you will work with the delivery team to make sure that customer bugs are appropriately triaged and prioritized with the other work commitments. Finally, it is expected that you will contribute to the team's technical leadership and help advance the solution architecture and technology road map. You will help to unblock others and contribute where needed to meet team commitments. Duties & Responsibilities Deliver quality products in a timely fashion. Drive technical architecture and continuous improvement for the suite of forecasting products and solutions. Review and approve proposed architectures, technologies, and implementations for risk and feasibility. Lead a team of software engineers in professional development. Maintain an understanding of team progress and positioning people and work to meet product commitments. Coordinate analysis, design, implementation, and testing of a large software system. Determine scope of effort of large projects. Perform justification (cost-benefit analysis). Understand business objectives linked to the development and application of technology. Required Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience Minimum of 2+ years in technical team leadership Minimum of 3+ years of software engineering experience Experience working with cloud deployments on Azure or AWS (Amazon Web Services) Experience with Docker containerization and Kubernetes service deployment. Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages, C#, C++, Python Understanding of manual and automated testing practices. Experience with Scaled Agile methods. Preferred Skills and Experience Strong math skills, including understanding statistical methods such as regression and neural networks and machine learning algorithms. Experience with enterprise databases including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL + TimescaleDB.
