Cabinet Peaks Medical Center Occupational Therapist, Full Time in Libby, Montana

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join the Rehab Team! The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, directing, administering, and documenting occupational therapy services to patients 0-100+ years of age. This position administers treatments per established plan of care in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. The Staff Therapist assists patients to obtain maximum performance and function in society while learning to live a routine “normal” life within the constraints of their disability. This position coordinates, delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff (COTA, aide, etc.). The Staff Therapist participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in continuous quality improvement activities. This position provides input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. The Occupational Therapist insures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis. The Staff Therapist participates in all departmental training and safety programs as required.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

Ability to complete evaluations, reassessments and discharges on patients referred for occupational therapy services.

Demonstrates ability to observe and evaluate treatment effectiveness and recommend changes as needed to ensure good outcome measures.

Demonstrates the ability to effectively plan, supervise and delegate to COTA, Aides, and OT students to provide services in a competent and efficient manner.

Ability to instruct therapy aides, therapy students, new graduates, recently hired therapists and other staff members.

Ability to perform patient treatments according to established therapy standards and department policies and procedures.

Demonstrates knowledge of occupational therapy modalities.

Must be able to function and excel in a team environment and relate positively and favorably to staff, patients, visitors, families, and physicians.

Must possess effective communication and writing skills.

Must possess valid DL; may be required to travel to other hospital buildings, satellite clinic, and patients’ homes or out of town to attend meetings/continuing education courses.

Must possess computer skills in order to use e-mail, Word, Excel, Power Point, internet, electronic medical records, etc.

Education Requirements

Current state Occupational Therapy licensure.

Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy program.

Current BLS.

Experience

Preferred, but not required.

Schedule

Eight (8) to ten (10) hour shifts. Rotating weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed to provide coverage.
