KBR Technical Writer III in Lexington Park, Maryland

Title:

Technical Writer III

KBR is seeking a Technical Writer 3 to support our Defense Systems Engineering, Naval Solutions Division in Lexington Park, Maryland.

In This Role, You Will...

  • Develop, write, and edit material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, installations, operations, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment.

  • Ensures technical documentation is accurate and complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style.

  • Meet with various groups to discuss documentation requirements and gather data to be included in the documents.

  • Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedures and details. May interview production and engineering personnel, read journals, reports, and other material to familiarize themselves with product technologies and production methods, and review manufacturer’s and trade catalogs, drawings, and other data relative to equipment operation, maintenance, and service.

  • Track product updates and ensure that they are reflected in the documentation.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to establishing improved documentation processes.

  • Work with technical resources to improve document quality and usability.

  • Addition duties as needed to support customer requirements.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required

    Clearance: Must have or be able to obtain & maintain a DOD Secret clearance

    Education: Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Technology, or a related field.

    Experience:

  • At least four years of experience demonstrating one's ability to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit, and finalize technical manuals, specifications, modification work orders, test plans, procedures, and results.

Skills:

  • Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Ab ility to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.

  • Skilled at prioritization and multitasking

This is an SCA position.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week
