Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Systems Administrator to maintain operation of multi-user computer systems including coordination of infrastructure and cloud responsibilities. The Systems Administrator will develop and design core operating system builds. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for coding, virtualization, and automation of systems. The Systems Administrator will set up administrator and service accounts, maintain an active directory of users and system documentation, tune system performance, install system-wide software, and allocate mass storage space. The Systems Administrator will assess and resolve user access problems related to security controls to minimize business impact and risk exposure. The Systems Administrator will identify and evaluate vendor products and establish vendor monitoring and tracking processes. The Systems Administrator will perform capacity planning and monitor and tune systems. The Systems Administrator will recommend appropriate platforms for purchase, coordinate installation, and provide backup recovery. The Systems Administrator will serve as a point of escalation for major incidents that are unresolved at the helpdesk level. The Systems Administrator will develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. The Systems Administrator will draft general IT communications to end-users including notifications of outages and downtimes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (a strong technical background to include technical training, IT/IA certifications and at least 5 years of related experience in related technical fields may be substituted for a degree).

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Linux systems administration (RedHat is preferred).

  • Strong understanding of scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl, etc.).

  • Experience with enterprise services (i.e., NFS, email, web servers, DNS, storage, patch management, configuration management, etc.).

  • Understanding of network principals with strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Familiarity with VMWare or other virtualization platforms.

  • Familiarity with Linux automation tools (i.e., Ansible, Puppet, etc.)

  • Familiarity with Microsoft services such as Active Directory.

  • Experience implementing Department of Defense security requirements such as OS/application hardening, STIG compliance is preferred.

  • Experience with operating air-gapped infrastructure is a big plus.

  • Experience with ACAS, Tenable.SC, Trellix, McAfee ePO, and other cybersecurity tools is preferred.

  • Understanding of enterprise storage solutions (i.e., NetApp) is preferred.

  • Experience with UNIX operating systems (i.e., Solaris) is a plus.

  • Experience with database servers (i.e., MySQL and PostgreSQL) is preferred.

  • Possess a Security+ and Linux+ technical certification or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of the start date.

  • Due to the nature of the work, an Interim clearance is required (current active Secret Clearance is preferred).
