Group Description:

The Integrated Missile Defense Technology Group develops resilient, integrated missile defense solutions through threat characterization, advanced technology development, prototyping, and testing. Our work is critical to the defense of the United States, deployed forces, and allies from missile attacks. This group performs detailed system and component engineering, flight and ground test analysis, and advanced capability and algorithm development in collaboration with the contractors and government program offices that are developing the missile defense elements and components.

Description:

The Integrated Missile Defense Technology Group is seeking a highly motivated individual to join in an outstanding and interdisciplinary team of mathematicians, scientists, and engineers in solving challenging and critically important missile defense problems through simulation, modeling, algorithm development, autonomy and machine learning, hardware prototyping, field testing and analysis.

The successful candidate will be able to work on a broad range of problems. Desired areas of expertise include any of the following: data science and engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning, autonomy, algorithm development, prototyping, data infrastructure and analytics, modeling and simulation, and radar signal processing. Experience with a high-level programming language such as MATLAB, Python, Julia, etc. is required. Must have demonstrated proficiency in oral presentations and written reporting skills. Must have proven record of self ‐ motivation and ability to work well in a team environment.

Requirements:

  • MS in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aero/Astro, or related field

  • In lieu of a MS, an BS/BA with 5+ years of directly related experience will be considered

  • Strong programming skills in at least one commonly used programming language (e.g., Python, MATLAB)

  • Strong mathematical skills demonstrated through classwork and/or peer-reviewed publications

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, sponsors, and other research organizations
