Position Summary To serve our internal customers by maintaining and repairing the company's fleet of vehicles according to established company standards and federal law to ensure the safety, reliability, and functionality of the fleet. Essential Functions Diagnoses and troubleshoots problems with company vehicles (e.g. tractors, trailers, vans, cars, diesel engines, forklifts and pallet jacks); repairs vehicles according to established company standards, FMCSA and federal law. Performs preventative maintenance as established by FMCSA regulations and the Fleet preventative maintenance schedules. Responds to vehicle break downs that occur outside of the facility (e.g. diagnose, repair, switch out equipment as needed). Adheres to all company policies, standards and procedures (e.g. OSHA and safety requirements, AIB and Pepsi standards, FMCSA, Federal/State/Local Laws); wears all required personal protective equipment. Communicates with: co-workers regarding repair status on equipment; internal customers regarding vehicle repair needs; supervisor regarding vehicle repair issues. Transports equipment to outside maintenance shops for repair work not completed in-house. Orders parts and maintains parts inventory. Maintains cleanliness and assists in the organization of the fleet garage (e.g. cleans up spills, properly disposes of used parts). Completes Federal annual inspection reports, preventative maintenance records, service repair order forms, time-off requests and other required paperwork according to established standards. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required. Education Level Minimum - High School or GED Preferred - Vocational / Technical or equivalent degree; 2 Year / associate degree in diesel mechanics Experience Years of Experience - 1 year - Diesel mechanic experience required Certificates & Licenses Valid Driver's License; Employee must be insurable to operate a vehicle, as a condition of initial and continued employment. Additional Requirements Must be able to work around fumes, airborne particles and toxic/caustic materials. Must be able to work around moving equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks) and in a loud noise environment.
