Overview

Job Type: Full-time, Part-Time

Pay: $14.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 4–6-hour shifts, 8-hour shift between 8:00am-5:00pm

  • Day shift

  • Monday to Friday

    Job Focus:

    This position is responsible for assisting the teacher in an education setting.

Responsibilities

DUTIES

1

Assist teacher in providing appropriate early childhood education experience

2

Demonstrate knowledge of use of space, furnishing, and developmentally appropriate activities/ materials.

3

Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to encourage children to engage in meaningful conversation

4

Support an environment which engages and assist children in developing curiosity, exploration, respect of self and others, problem solving, security, and self-esteem while avoiding verbal or physical punishment

5

Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, materials, and supplies

6

Be able to individualize activities and make adaptions for children with special needs

7

Follow regulations regarding health, safety, and sanitation across multiple settings.

8

Maintain confidentiality, professional attitude, and loyalty to the program always

9

Assist with collection of information about each child’s development

10

Participate as a team member in planning, coordination, and implementing the program

11

Act as an “ambassador” of the center by showing a warm, welcoming attitude toward families and their involvement in the life of the program

12

Participate in professional development as required to improve performance and to expand personal knowledge of child development, interdisciplinary practice, and family centered services

13

Develop and implement a written individual growth plan

14

Assist with general housekeeping tasks, and keeping classrooms in clean state including mopping, trash, etc.

15

Understand and comply with city and state regulations and licensing standards

16

Provide other services as required for the efficient functioning of The Salvation Army

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1

High school diploma or GED Required; some college preferred

2

18 years or older

3

Must meet requirements of city and state licensing agencies (Background checks, CPR, First aid, & TB Skin test)

4

Previous experience working with children

5

Creative, Enthusiastic, highly organized, flexible, good communication

6

Clean and neat appearance

7

Ability to lift to 50 pounds

Experience:

  • Childcare: 2 years (Preferred)
