Purpose of Position or Position Summary:

Partners with residents/patients and other care providers to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment by providing direct and indirect care. The Float Pool CNA will float to units within acute care and behavioral care, including the emergency department and day surgery as needed.

Provides Direct Patient Care:

  • Promotes and maximizes independence in line with the function of the assigned unit

  • Uses adaptive equipment as indicated for personal hygiene, mealtime, mobility

  • Assists with personal hygiene includes bathing, dressing, oral care, hair care, shaving, manicure/pedicure

  • Assists with ambulation, mobility, and positioning transfers to and from bed/chair/toileting. Includes use of mechanical lifts and proper body mechanics

  • Assists at mealtimes, prepares the patient; serves food trays, snacks, fresh water. Feeds, supervises, or cues patient as indicated.

  • Assists with toileting. May involve bathroom, commode or providing incontinent care

Provides Indirect Patient Care

  • Promotes and maximizes independence

  • Actively participates in established plan of care

  • Provides care to patients requiring various types of equipment

  • Provides transport as indicated

  • Maintains a clean and safe environment; follows principles of infection control

  • Responds promptly to call lights and pagers

  • Changes linens

  • May participate in team conferences, providing information on aspects of care.
