Applied Research Associates, Inc. Junior Chemical Engineer in Leonardo, New Jersey

Description

ARA is seeking a Junior Chemical Engineer to support laboratory and field testing related to measuring the properties and behaviors of oils and related chemicals. This is a full-time position on-site at The National Oil Spill Response Research & Renewable Energy Test Facility in Leonardo, New Jersey.

This position is 100% on site in Leonardo, New Jersey.

As a chemical engineer you will:

  • Execute test plans related to the measurement of oil properties and water quality in a laboratory setting.

  • Analyze and document the results of tests including writing project reports and giving presentations.

  • Maintain the analysis laboratory to assure applicable safety standards and measurement quality standards.

  • Conceive and implement improvements to the laboratory methods, instrumentation, and processes.

  • Support outdoor testing such as water and oil sampling in the Ohmsett tank.

  • Develop tests plans for new research projects in collaboration with government sponsors and industry clients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or similar chemistry-related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Zero to two years’ experience working in a laboratory environment.

  • Familiarity with a variety of laboratory and field instrumentation as applied to the measurement of oil properties and water quality.

  • Experience with laboratory measurement automation methods such as LabVIEW.

  • Experience analyzing data with Excel or MATLAB).

  • Experience writing laboratory reports in MS Word and giving presentations in MS PowerPoint.

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Must be able to obtain clearance for facility access.
