Description

Amazon Fulfillment is seeking a full-time WHS Specialist (WHSS) to serve as a designated safety representative for their assigned fulfillment center (FC), coordinating and implementing all areas of the Amazon Global Safety Program as directed by the safety leadership. The WHSS promotes a positive safety culture while complying with Amazon safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment. This includes conducting trainings and coaching associates on observed work habits.

The WHSS is required to maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems. The WHSS supports management’s efforts to ensure compliance with all corporate Safety Program expectations and applicable federal & state laws. The WHSS also conducts risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions. In addition, the WHSS is responsible for recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomics.

Key job responsibilities

This role report to Site WHS Manager. You will support, coordinate and assist in the implementation of Amazon WHS procedures and programs as directed by WHS leadership, in alignment with policy and site goals. You will partner with the site stakeholders to drive compliance with relevant Amazon standards, procedures and applicable local laws. You will play vital role in coaching associates and leadership on new and existing WHS requirements, including their impact on the site. You will support incident investigation and own data analysis to build recommendations for change and impact trends. You will partner with site operations and WHS leadership on tackling day to day risks, identify and escalate compliance risks and improvement opportunities through the completion of assigned routine inspections and audits.

You will represent WHS function in site working groups, attend meetings and lead continuous improvement projects as assigned by WHS leadership. You are expected to contribute or own

writing documents and communications as assigned by WHS leadership. You will act as the proxy for the Site WHS Manager when assigned. You will fulfill the assigned tasks within this standard work as allocated by the Site WHS Manager, including additional tasks as stretch assignment.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of workplace health & safety (WHS) related field experience

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910

  • High school or equivalent

  • Experience using Microsoft Word in a professional capacity

  • Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security or personnel issues in the workplace

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a safety related field

  • English and Spanish level should be fluent, spoken and written

  • 1+ years of experience and knowledge of ISO45001, STPS, CIVIL PROTECTION, SEMARNAT and SCT regulations specifically those related to Environmental, Health and Safety in Mexico

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in emergency response

  • Experience in worker's compensation case management
