Description

Job Title:Youth Development Specialist -North Central Massachusetts

Reports to:Director of Youth Development

Schedule:20 hours per week, (program time runs from 3 pm – 6 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays) - North Central Massachusetts (Leominster/Fitchburg)

Job Summary:

As a Youth Development Specialist, you will play a crucial role in recruiting, guiding and supporting our participants through various activities and discussions. You will create a safe and welcoming environment where girls feel empowered to express themselves, explore their interests, and build meaningful connections.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging learning activities and lesson plans, tailoring existing materials or creating new content to meet the specific needs and goals of the participants.

  • Lead interactive workshops, discussions, and activities that promote self-discovery, leadership development, and cultural pride.

  • Foster a safe and inclusive space where girls feel respected, valued, and encouraged to share their thoughts and experiences.

  • Provide individual and group mentoring to support personal growth, academic success, and leadership development.

  • Work closely with the program supervisor and other team members to plan and implement program activities, events, and outreach initiatives.

  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents/caregivers in both English and Spanish, providing updates on program activities and their child's progress.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program outreach and impact.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Fluency in Spanish and English (both written and verbal) is required.

  • Driver’s License and reliable transportation is required

  • Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of Latinx culture, values, and experiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • A genuine commitment to empowering young girls and fostering their leadership potential.

  • Existing relationships within the local Latinx community in Leominster and Fitchburg would be a significant asset.

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Proven experience working with young people, ideally in a mentorship or facilitation capacity.
