Description

Summary :

Performs mammograms at a level that requires independent judgment and coordinates and supervises the activities to maintain FDA/ACR requirements.

Responsibilities :

  1. Performs quality radiographs on patients of all age groups.

  2. Performs quality mammograms on patients of specific age groups, generally ages 30+.

  3. Critiques mammography exams of other mammographers and is available to offer suggestions for improvement.

  4. Performs individual audits of films to audit quality.

  5. Provides in-services on views or topics to improve service and quality.

  6. Performs or supervises all quality control tests to meet ACR and FDA requirements for digital mammography.

  7. Ensures all quality control activities are completed within the required parameters of the ACR and FDA.

  8. Uses appropriate device to measure viewbox intensity.

  9. Performs phantom images and charts results--analyzes for compliance.

  10. Reviews or conducts process of repeat analysis and notes areas for improvement.Reviews and describes process for determining volume reading of each radiologist.Conducts or supervices audit tracking of pathology results vs. mammographic results.Reviews and describes process for tracking positive biopsy versus mammographic results--ensures communication loop is closed.Proficient in the use of the mammography reporting system.Conducts or supervises patient reporting and tracking.Monitors patients for follow-up reporting including biopsy, diagnostic mammography and physician notification and notes areas for improvement in the system.Participates in the annual FDA/MQSA inspection process.Monitors the evaluation process of the MQSA inspectors and is available to answer questions or provide results.Develops and implements solutions to noncompliance items to ensure FDA accreditation.

MQSA procedure manuals are organized and reviewed at least quarterly for completeness.Takes responsibility for self-development and the development of all mammographers.Ensures that all mammographers have acquired necessary CE educational credits to meet FDA and ACR standards.Participates in in-service education classes including departmental.Maintains license or accreditation.Attends at least 75% of department meetings.Stays informed of departmental policy changes.Meets deadlines for review of educational, policies, modules, meetings.Is willing to be trained in other modalities and use skills to improve operation of department.Volunteers routinely during crisis staffing situations? inclement weather situations.Demonstrates behavior consistent with the goals of the organization.

  12. Is a self starter and motivated to help team members with other room assignments? stays busy? produces an amount of work consistent with departmental average? helps teammates.Meets customer expectations promptly? ensures service delivered without interruption? addresses concerns or problems with courtesy and respect? assist customers with special communication needs.

Education Requirements:

● High School diploma or GED.

● Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

● American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.

Professional Experience Requirements:

● One (1) year of progressive experience in related field.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

● Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.
