The City of Lenexa Parks & Recreation department is currently accepting applications for Concierge staff. This is a year-round position working up to twenty hours per week. The ideal candidate will have previous customer service and public relations experience and will be working primarily at the Thompson Barn and occasionally at the Community Center, City Hall and City Special Events. The primary responsibility is to ensure a quality customer experience by providing concierge-style services.

Position Summary

Serves as the primary contact for Thompson Barn, Community Center and City Hall event rentals. Assists clients with setup logistics, technology needs, tours of the facility, and general facility cleaning and supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opens Thompson Barn and secures when closing.

  • Monitors rooms and guests.

  • Discusses rental timeline, expectations and policies with event contact person and vendors.

  • Communicates with Building Services staff during room flips and cleanup.

  • Communicates with off-duty Lenexa Police Officer during alcohol service.

  • Maintains clean and organized workspace.

  • Provides customized tours to both walk-in and scheduled visitors.

  • Assists with computer, microphone, sound, projector, Blu-ray and cable setup and troubleshooting.

  • Provides access to facility amenities.

  • Replenishes paper products, wipes down restroom counters and mirrors, cleans glass doors and takes out trash.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Availability Sunday - Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to Midnight, flexibility for scheduled City events.

    Qualifications

    Minimum: 21 years of age, high school diploma or GED.

    Desired: Event planning, meeting coordination and audio/visual setup experience.

    Environment and Physical Factors

    This position requires good physical condition including: ability to walk and climb stairs; ability to sit for extended periods; ability to lift objects weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.; ability to crawl, climb, twist, balance, stoop/bend, kneel, squat, push/pull; ability to hear and speak effectively; ability to work with cleaning chemicals; ability to work independently.

    Compensation

    Starting hourly rate of pay is $15.50 per hour dependent on qualifications and directly related experience .

    Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.
