We are currently accepting applications for a Public Market Concierge. This role is responsible for keeping the Lenexa Public Market clean, presentable, and safe for operators and customers; taking and responding to questions from both market operators and customers; and assisting with market promotion and events. If you are a self-starter, customer service oriented and can work independently without supervision, this is the opportunity for you!

Position Summary

Primary functions include keeping the market common areas free of trash and clutter; the furniture, fixtures, and equipment clean and in working condition; and ensuring non-public areas remain secure. The Concierge will act as a customer service representative for the market to both the operators and to the public. The Concierge will assist in scheduling/booking the space for events, preparing the market for classes and events, and promoting market operators and events through social media.

Hours

Must be available to work 12 to 15 hours per week and available to work evenings, weekends, and special events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the common areas of the Market by keeping them clean and presentable.

  • Prepare the market for daily operation and/or perform closing tasks at the end of operation.

  • Ensure all common furniture, fixtures, and equipment remain in working condition.

  • Assist market operators with facility needs/requests.

  • Provide customer service and ensure the public feels welcome and safe in the facility.

  • Prepare the facility for private and special events.

  • Assist with the promotion of market operators and events.

    Additional Examples of Work Performed

  • Answer operator and customer inquiries.

  • Receive shipments.

  • Monitor and/or assist service contractors.

    Environment and Physical Factors

    This position is active, requiring the ability to stand for long periods of time; climb a ladder; lift up to 50 lbs.; bend, crouch, or otherwise to reach high- and low-level furniture, fixtures, and/or equipment.

    Qualifications

    Minimum: A high school diploma or G.E.D, at least one year in customer service, facility maintenance/operations, event planning, hospitality, retail or similar field, possession of a valid driver-s license and clean driving record.

    Desired: An Associate-s degree or higher and three or more years- experience in customer service, hospitality and/or retail.

    Starting rate of pay is $15.50 per hour. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a physical, drug screen and background check.
