Mountainland Technical College Basic Life Support Instructor in Lehi, Utah

Basic Life Support Instructor

Location: Lehi, UT

Status: Part-time

Hours: Varied

Pay / Hourly: $21.26 hourly

SUMMARY

As the Basic Life Support Instructor, you will train students in CPR and First Aid through the American Heart Association. The level of CPR training is either Life Support, for healthcare providers, or Heartsaver CRP/AED for students outside of the healthcare field. The First Aid training course is taught at the same level for all students. You will establish and communicate clear learning objectives and adapt teaching methods to meet student learning styles. You will assess student competencies by evaluating of hands-on performance and written exams. This job requires travel to all MTECH campuses including Lehi, Orem, Spanish Fork and Provo.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Instruct, manage and supervise students in the classroom and lab.

  • Help set up and clean up before and after each class.

  • Maintain student-oriented approach with professional classroom and lab conditions.

  • Evaluate verbal instruction and hands-on competencies by means of written and practical performance exams.

  • Remediate with students who do not pass the certification exam on the first attempt.

  • Stay current in the AHA curriculum and standards and maintains professional certification.

  • Attend and participates in department meetings and any other meetings as requested by the Program Coordinator and/or the Director of Health Programs.

  • Complete all paperwork as required by MTECH and/or the American Heart Association for students taking the class.

  • Care for the equipment by keeping it clean and in good working order; communicating with the Program Coordinator when equipment or supplies are low in stock.

  • Uphold the MTECH Mission Statement.

    QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 2 years related work experience preferred.

  • Must possess an AHA Certification in the class they are teaching as well as AHA Instructor Certification.
