Job Description: Land Mobile Radio Technician Net Ops Specialist

Location: Fort Johnson

Position Title: Land Mobile Radio Technician Net Ops Specialist

Clearance Level: Secret Clearance; must be eligible for T5 Investigation

Position Overview:

The Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician Net Ops Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Land Mobile Radio systems at Fort Johnson. The role involves ensuring that all communications equipment operates efficiently and meets Department of Defense (DOD) standards. The technician will work closely with other IT and communications personnel to maintain the operational integrity of LMR systems, supporting mission-critical communication channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems, including repeaters, base stations, and mobile and portable radios.

  • Perform regular system checks, diagnostics, and maintenance to ensure optimal operation of LMR systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to LMR systems, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient communication capabilities.

  • Monitor and manage network operations for LMR systems, ensuring compliance with DOD regulations and standards.

  • Provide technical support and training to end-users and other personnel on LMR equipment and best practices.

  • Maintain accurate records of all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.

  • Collaborate with other IT and communications teams to integrate LMR systems with other networked systems.

  • Ensure all activities comply with DOD 8140 standards and guidelines.

  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends related to LMR systems and make recommendations for upgrades or improvements as necessary.

    Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate degree in Electronics, Communications, or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in LMR systems, radio communications, or a related technical field.

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in LMR technology, network operations, or related areas are highly desirable.

  • Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required.

  • Compliance: Must meet DOD 8140 compliance standards.

    Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of LMR systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Strong understanding of network operations and the ability to manage and monitor communications networks.

  • Familiarity with DOD regulations and standards, particularly DOD 8140.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and training to users and team members.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
