Syms Strategic Group (SSG)  is seeking a talented Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) Instructor

Department: Veterans Affairs (VA), Acquisition Academy (VAAA)

Location: On-Site Frederick, MD

Type:  Full Time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead training(s) for students looking to obtain Supply Chain certifications.

  • Ensure students sign in each morning and afternoon for every class using the provided class roster.

  • Utilize the courseware training materials (i.e. student guide) and all supplemental courseware training material for course instruction.

  • Provide written feedback on each course delivered and identify any issues with the course materials (defects, areas for improvement, etc.), the facilities (classroom, smartboards, etc.), student conduct, and any actions taken within five (5) business days of course end.

  • Complete an Academy survey upon completion of training.

  • Conduct courses in accordance with VAAA classroom procedures.

  • Maintain order and discipline within the classroom.

  • Create a learning environment conducive to classroom instruction to maximize student learning, knowledge retention, and feedback to ensure the VA workforce is prepared and capable of job/mission accomplishment.

  • Oversee, evaluate, and grade examinations.

  • Review examination results with students.

  • Provide one (1) re-test as necessary and ensure students absorb and apply lessons learned.

     

    Required Skills and Experience

  • Outstanding communication skills.

  • An ability to work with multiple stakeholders who may have competing priorities.

  • Expertise in understanding learning needs and the systematic development of learning experiences, especially using technology and multimedia to enhance instruction.

  • At least five (5) years of experience with instructing courses.

  • At least five (5) years of experience with Supply Chain management.

    Professional Certifications n/a

    Years of Professional Experience Five (5) years of professional experience

    Desired experience Previous experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) highly preferred

    Supply Chain certifications highly preferred

    Formal Education BA/BS degree

    Citizenship Requirement U.S. Citizenship required for this specific opportunity

    Security Clearance Requirements Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (NACI)
