Your Impact:

You will have a key role in major project delivery, working closely with our clients and helping to lead our environmental assessment and consents workstreams. Your project experience will enable you to bring together a diverse team of environmental specialists, working as part of project teams to assess potential effects, embedding environment and sustainability in the design and delivery of our projects.

Our environmental assessment team specialises in consenting for nationally significant projects across the UK and Europe, providing technical expertise for clients such as the Environment Agency, National Grid, National Gas, RWE, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, HS2, National Highways, Network Rail and many more. We work as part of the wider the Water & Environment business, providing holistic services to help our clients meet their objectives across areas such as social value, sustainability and net zero carbon.

You will join a vibrant and friendly environmental team, with opportunities to deliver projects across a range of sectors, including renewable energy and hydrogen, water resource management and transport. As an Environmental Consultant at Jacobs you will have the opportunity to influence environmental outcomes for some of the most exciting major projects in Ireland, the UK and further afield.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline.

  • A good understanding of the environmental impacts associated with major projects

  • Experience in delivering EIAs and other types of assessments for a range of clients.

  • Awareness of consenting regimes, such as the Planning Act/Development Consent Orders (DCO), Transport & Works Act, and Town & Country Planning Act.

  • A good awareness and understanding of relevant stakeholders

  • Strong organisational, communication and inter-personal skills and collaborative working capabilities to co-ordinate and work within multi-disciplinary and diverse teams.

  • Chartered status and Full Membership of a recognised relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA). Where a candidate does not meet this requirement, they would be expected to achieve this within their first year.
