POSITION SUMMARY: The Meat/Seafood Clerk is responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience by preparing and ensuring the freshest quality product. The Meat/Seafood Clerk maintains department conditions, to include preparing, stocking and serving meat/seafood products. They also maintain food safety standards and cleanliness in the meat/seafood areas and handle customer inquiries while providing product knowledge. REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to represent and support Big Y\'s culture of caring while living our Mission & Vision. 2. Supports Big Y\'s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives 3. Must project a clean and professional appearance. 4. Ability to operate within company policies, procedures, and standards. 5. Willingness to cross train and learn other areas as needed. 6. Ability to work a flexible schedule in accordance with the needs of the store. 7. Must be 18 years of age or older. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Demonstrate the ability to engage with customers, to maximize customer experience, by preparing fresh quality products to Big Y standards and using interactive sales techniques to include informing and educating on preparation of all products. 2. Prepare, weigh, finish, slice, price, package, merchandise, and stock product in both Meat/Seafood areas. 3. Maintain proper department conditions and supplies by cleaning, stocking, blocking, rotating, culling, coding, etc. 4. Follow management directives given to execute sales and operational plans to meet department financial goals. 5. Ability to perform opening and closing department procedures that align with company standards. 6. Operate, clean, and maintain equipment/machinery, tools, and work stations, where applicable. 7. Support teamwork and productively work with other employees. 8. Perform training of employees and other duties, as assigned. 9. Assist with the technical tasks and demands as necessary within the department. 10. Complete all training requirements by respective due dates. 11. Engage in and encourage continuous improvement through ideas and innovation. utilizing Big Y initiatives and platforms. 12. Adhere to and enforce all government employment and labor regulations, as well as all Company policies and procedures (e.g., employment laws concerning minors, harassment, discrimination, etc.). 13. Adhere to and enforce all government food safety and sanitation regulations, as well as all Company policies and procedures (e.g., cleaning, coding, rotating, maintaining proper temperatures, etc.). 14. Adhere to and enforce all government safety regulations, as well as all Company policies and procedures (e.g., proper use of equipment, cleaning, straightening, sweeping, clearing unsafe conditions, etc.) to ensure the safety of employees and customers. Report and collaborate with Risk Management on all claims. 15. Adhere to and enforce all Company asset protection policies and procedures (e.g., taking accurate inventory, controlling waste and utilities, damaged goods, reporting theft, etc.). 16. Adhere to and enforce all Company procedures regarding store conditions as outlined in 5S (Sort and remove, Shine and inspect, set locations and visual cues, Systematize, Stay the course).
