Dartmouth Health Unit Support Assistant with the Emergency Department in Lebanon, New Hampshire

Overview

Assists the interdisciplinary team in providing a well-supplied, safe, and clean inpatient unit that meets regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as front line representative of unit. Interacts with families and visitors in the unit. Answers telephone calls and assists in the overall functioning of the unit. Communicates with other departments as needed.

  • Coordinates with the Unit leader to ensure the unit meets regulatory, safety, and infection prevention standards, monitors and intervenes as necessary to maintain environment of care standards.

  • Ensures the unit is well supplied and equipment is available and working.

  • Utilizes support systems and resources to document patient status and flow.

  • Maintains chart information that is up-to-date, organized, and in compliance with Health Information Services (HIS) requirements.

  • Accesses secure medication locations limited to receiving and floor stock storage areas in order to manage the storage, handling, beyond use dating, and disposal of medications consistent with the Medication Storage and Handling Policy.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be proficient in computer skills and customer service.

  • The ability to function in a fast-paced work environment with excellent organizational and prioritization skills is required.

  • Preferred proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • High school diploma ( or GED) strongly preferred
