Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Outpatient Neurology Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join our neurology team. The APP will provide comprehensive care to patients with neurological conditions in an outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, a passion for neurology, and a commitment to patient-centered care. Experience preferred, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, and review of diagnostic tests and imaging.

  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions such as migraines, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and neuropathies.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans in collaboration with neurologists and other healthcare professionals.

  • Prescribe medications and therapies, and provide patient education on condition management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.

  • Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures, including lumbar punctures, EMGs, and nerve conduction studies as appropriate.

  • Monitor and manage side effects and complications of neurological treatments.

  • Coordinate patient care with other specialties, primary care providers, and ancillary services to ensure comprehensive care.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).

  • Mentor and precept new Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), APP students, and medical students.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and continuing education to stay current with best practices in neurology.

  • Comply with the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct.

  • Participate in continuing education programs for professional growth and development.

  • Advocate for patient rights, including privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent.

  • Provide compassionate and empathetic support to patients and their families, addressing their concerns and questions.

  • Perform additional duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest in neurology.

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

  • Maintain current licensure as an APRN or PA and DEA registration.

  • Maintain a current Physician Delegation Agreement (PAs only).

  • Maintain your national certification credentials

  • Strong clinical skills with a focus on evidence-based practice.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
