Dartmouth Health Ophthalmic Assistant in Lebanon, New Hampshire

Overview

Assists with all clinical duties required of an ophthalmic assistant including (but not limited to) monitoring patient arrivals, performing basic eye exams, gathering and documentation of patient health and eye history, providing patient assistance with navigating the clinic, and providing an exceptional patient experience.

Familiarity with medical terminology desired with a willingness to learn and work toward certification.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Interact with patients at all levels of care in the ophthalmology clinic.

  • Perform basic ophthalmic exams in preparation for next steps of care.

  • Collect and enter complete and accurate information into the patients’ electronic medical record.

  • Prepare patient, room, supplies, and equipment for exams and procedures.

  • Inventory, cleaning, care, and maintenance of ophthalmic equipment, supplies, and exam rooms.

  • Recognize and comply with all national, local, and institutional laws, regulations, policies, and procedures with regard to patient privacy and safety.

  • Assist fellow staff and physicians with daily tasks.

  • Willing and able to learn special testing and ancillary skills as needed.

  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or the equivalent required.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Basic Life Support certification required within 60 days

  • Area of Interest:Allied Health;

  • FTE/Hours per pay period:1.00 - 1.00 - 40 hrs/week;
