Dartmouth Health Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist in Lebanon, New Hampshire

Overview

The Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist will play a pivotal role in the technical operations of the healthcare simulation center at Colby Sawyer College’s School of Nursing and Health Professions. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities related to simulation equipment, scheduling, maintenance, and inventory/supply management.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Operations:

  • Operate and maintain simulation equipment to ensure optimal functionality.

  • Collaborate with faculty and simulation educators to set up and facilitate realistic healthcare scenarios.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely solutions during simulation sessions.

  • Equipment Maintenance:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all simulation equipment.

  • Conduct regular inspections, calibrations, and repairs as needed.

  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment servicing and repairs.

  • Scheduling:

  • Manage the scheduling of simulation sessions in coordination with faculty, ensuring the efficient use of simulation resources.

  • Coordinate with various departments to schedule maintenance and upgrades without disrupting educational activities.

  • Inventory and Supply Management:

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of simulation supplies and equipment.

  • Monitor usage and reorder supplies as necessary to ensure seamless operations.

  • Establish relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and pricing.

  • Training and Support:

  • Provide training to faculty, staff, and students on the proper use of simulation equipment.

  • Offer technical support during simulation sessions and address any user concerns promptly.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare technology, biomedical engineering, simulation technology) preferred.

  • Experience in operating and maintaining healthcare simulation equipment.

  • Two years of experience as a Sim Tech or equivalent desired.

  • Ability to independently move equipment (less than 25 lbs) and move manikins (more than 25 lbs) with the assistance of others.

  • Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of healthcare simulation best practices and industry standards.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:

  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist Certification required within 1 year of hire.

  • Yellowbelt training within 1 year of hire.

  • AHA BLS Certification within 1 year of hire.
