Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH seeks a Pharmacy Technician to join our Inpatient Pharmacy team. The Certified Pharmacy Technician III will work under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist performing routine and specialized technical and clerical duties for drug distribution to patients. This individual has excellent customer service skills and is able to function independently within their scope of responsibility. The incumbent is able to demonstrate leadership skills on a day to day basis. This job builds on the responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician Certified II.

Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is an Academic Medical Center which prides itself on supporting education and training. Pharmacy Technicians will routinely engage with the training and support of new staff, interns, students, apprentices, and other learners who rotate through the pharmacy.

This is a Full Time benefitted 40hr/week position working 8 hour shifts rotating days and evenings as well as every other weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Answers Phones.

  • Prepares prescription and non-prescription medication and/or devices.

  • Stocks and replenishes stock locations and automated dispensing machines and/or robots.

  • Serves as a preceptor and assists with orienting and training of pharmacy department staff. Provides CII oversight.

  • Communicates supply issues, problems or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.

  • Assists with workflow management

  • Inpatient and Infusion Only:

  • Prepares intravenous admixtures or other sterile drug products (including antineoplastic, investigational and hazardous medications) in accordance with USP chapters and under supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.

  • Prepares or compounds non-sterile drug products (including antineoplastic, investigational and hazardous medications) in accordance with USP chapters and under supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.

  • Utilizes closed system transfer devices to limit potential exposure of the environment to hazardous medications.

  • Follows investigational protocols in the preparation of study medications, maintains records of preparation, stability, and dispenses as required.

  • Maintains the hardware and software of the department's multiple computer systems.

  • Outpatient Only:

  • Electronically processes prescription orders and prepares prescriptions for verification by a pharmacist.

  • Processes third party claims.

  • Assists in the call center, with mail order, prior authorizations and deposits.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a health or related field, with 1 year of pharmacy experience, or the equivalent in education and experience preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with accuracy.

  • Ability to multitask and attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain composure under stressfulsituations.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the NH Board of Pharmacy required.

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.

  • BLS Certification required within 30 days of hire for Pharmacy Technicians in the Retail or Specialty Pharmacy if required to administer immunizations
