Prysmian Group Quality Engineer in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky

Prysmian is the world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry. The Quality Engineer is a professional level position, reporting to the Quality Manager. Quality Engineer will establish, implement, direct, and maintain quality assurance and procedures throughout the various stages of manufacturing to assure a finished product with the highest quality possible while keeping material scrap at a minimum. The person will work with associates at all levels of the organization to continuously improve our quality system and develop plant performance. In addition, this person is responsible for supporting the plant's ISO and other quality system registrations and qualifications and provides direct contact with customers, UL, MIL, NQA and other regulatory agency representatives as required.

Principal Functional Responsibilities:

  • Establish electrical test and measuring system to ensure validity and quality of all applicable cables, throughout the manufacturing process.

  • Develop routine electrical inspection and test procedures.

  • Develop and maintain effective systems to achieve plant and Company quality objectives.

  • Maintain orderly records to demonstrate compliance with specifications.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate statistical sampling and/or control methods as needed to assure desired product quality levels.

  • Investigate returned materials due to quality complaints and ensure that the necessary corrective action is initiated and implemented to prevent recurrence.

  • Develop and maintain a system for the effective management of nonconforming material documentation and report metrics to comply with plant and company requirements.

  • Develop and communicate effective quality performance metrics throughout the organization.

  • Direct and lead cross functional teams to effectively deliver improvement projects.

  • Identify adverse quality trends as evidenced by statistical analysis and assist process engineering and/or manufacturing personnel in the development of corrective actions.

  • Support plant efforts to maintain and conform to plant quality standards.

  • Facilitate customer and regulatory agency inspections.

  • Provide support to other departments in their pursuit of improved quality products and processes.

  • Perform related duties as directed by Manager.

Supervision Scope:

  • Responsible for effectively managing cross-functional relationships with other departments to achieve the highest possible level of quality of products produced.

Key Requirements :

  • Electrical test and measurement experience

  • A results driven person who has demonstrated ability working in a high performance-manufacturing environment.

  • Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.

  • Proven experience in quality assurance systems.

  • Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement.

  • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Solid planning, leadership and administrative skills.

  • High energy, demonstrates urgency and fast pace.

  • Good understanding of business principles and practices; can understand impact of quality function to overall business results.

Desired Background:

  • 5 years manufacturing experience (quality assurance); able to understand appropriate product specifications.

  • Comfortable with a variety of software systems, including spreadsheets and database systems.

  • Experience in Root Cause analysis, corrective actions, Lean/Six Sigma (certification preferred),

  • Experience with ISO, SPC tools and other standard quality systems.

  • Leadership experience in a team-based environment.

  • Electrical products or Wire & Cable experience a plus.

  • ASQ certification a plus.

Education:

BS degree in engineering or related practical science experience required.
