Position Summary:

Reports to the Director, Worldwide Immunology & Neuroscience Communications, Corporate Affairs. The Associate Director, Worldwide Immunology Communications, Corporate Affairs is responsible for developing and executing a communications platform that creates a strong, differentiated leadership presence worldwide for Bristol Myers Squibb in immunology.

This role will be an integral member of the Immunology Communications Team, with point responsibility for worldwide communications for the Rheumatology and Pulmonology products. The candidate is responsible for developing integrated internal and external communications plans and innovative content to help drive the brands/business and elevate the company’s Immunology portfolio and commitment to immunology communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the creation and implementation of communications strategies, plans and tactics for the Rheumatology and Pulmonology portfolios in support of the company’s Immunology Franchise.

  • Serves as a key strategic communications advisor to WW Immunology brand teams, including Commercial, Medical and R&D, proactively preparing and executing integrated communications plans in line with worldwide strategy, developing innovative plans and content that drive brand and disease awareness understanding and differentiation and support the company’s business, policy and reputational goals.

  • Lead communication planning for regulatory submissions and product approvals; partner closely with Development Communications to create and execute strategies for data dissemination at major medical meetings; lead collaboration across Corporate Affairs teams, including Development, Science and U.S. Communications, Corporate Communications, Patient Advocacy and International colleagues, as well as Investor Relations, to ensure integrated and successful efforts to communicate brand and therapeutic area milestones, such as regulatory decisions and congresses.

  • Contribute to thought leadership strategy for Immunology & Neuroscience franchise, including content creation and social media tactics.

  • Build relationships with key worldwide stakeholders, including media, to garner positive coverage of BMS, support the company’s reputation and thought leadership activities and drive major external communications initiatives.

  • Design and implement measurement practices to actively manage, optimize and communicate performance against objectives.

  • Oversee budget and contract management for brand communications and external agency resources.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, with a degree in communications or related field preferred.

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in brand or corporate communications, public relations agency or related field. A strategic communications background in healthcare is preferred and experience in publicizing health economics and real-world evidence data is highly desirable.

  • Self-motivated leader with a track record of setting, driving and delivering against integrated communications strategies aligned with broader company objectives.

  • Media relations experience preferred. Candidate will interact with select media and contribute to media relations strategy.

  • Proven ability to quickly learn the business and successfully operate within a complex, fast paced environment, including a record of success and experience in leading and advising senior and executive level employees and teams.

  • Excellent strategic, conceptual thinking, interpersonal and writing skills, with a strong grasp of storytelling that can engage and energize.

  • Project management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities with a sense of urgency.

  • Proficiency with web-based, digital communications and social media tools.

  • Experience managing agency team and associated budgets.
