Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers has an immediate opening for a dynamic Early Career Civil Drafter in our growing office in Laval, QC. Looking for the ideal candidate to perform a variety of CADD production tasks related for highway / civil projects and miscellaneous support for construction. The Drafter should have a minimum experience in engineering plan production, be familiar with current programs/software, and CAD production practices.

Our Infrastructure Design Department is growing rapidly and includes the disciplines of structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roads, transit and materials.

Location

This role will be based in our Laval, QC Office

Responsibilities

  • In office work primarily

  • Work with engineering team in developing preliminary and final drawings and details.

  • Participate in take off quantities and other related tasks

  • Use MicroStation / AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software (SS2, SS4, ORD or C3D)

  • Produce documents with MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Qualifications

  • DEC - Diploma of Collegial Studies in Civil Engineering Technology or similar

  • Design experience or Design-Build project experience a plus

  • General knowledge of engineering principles and materials for highway / civil work

  • Read and understand construction documents

  • Knowledge in MicroStation a plus

  • Knowledge in AutoCAD

  • Highway design experience a plus

  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)

The ability to clearly communicate and collaborate well with Engineers and Designers in either French and English

Other Requirements:

• Regular, reliable attendance

• Work productively and meet deadlines timely

• Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment

• Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.

• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
