Position Summary Information

General Summary

TheSecurity Instrumentation Technicianinstalls, repairs, and maintains electronic security system equipment and associated CCTV /video equipment at WSSC Water facilities.

Essential Functions

  • Service/repairs of complex security system components and CCTV /video devices installed at various WSSC Water facilities

  • Ensures that electronic and security instrumentation used in various WSSC Water facilities functions properly

  • Uses industrial test equipment and specialized test equipment to monitor and repair security system equipment

  • Aids in establishing and maintaining adequate parts inventory

  • Maintains records on testing, maintenance and repairs of equipment

  • Maintains and repairs complex equipment associated with the security system

  • Troubleshoot network/telephone system communication circuitry of the security system

  • Drives a vehicle to conduct WSSC Water business

Other Functions

  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on security system components and CCTV /video devices as specified by manufacture requirements

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of electronics theory and of the methods and practices of electronic equipment repair

  • Knowledge of the functioning and maintenance of electronic security components and CCTV /video devices

  • Ability to read instrumentation data accurately and to maintain records of maintenance activities

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

Minimum Education, Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma (or equivalent)

  • 3+ years experience in electronic/security equipment maintenance and repair

Additional Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points and the ability to obtain and maintain a WSSC Water driver’s permit within 90 days of hire or transfer

  • Must be able to work on-call hours, as needed

Preferences

  • Software House C*Cure 9000 technical training certification

  • Knowledge of network design and network switch and router configurations

Salary$23.84 - $40.42 per hour
