Increased Pay- Up to $19/hour

accessAbilities, a local Human Services agency, is hiring caregivers to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Latrobe, PA area.

Caregivers (also known as healthcare Attendants) support patients with household duties and personal care services. Staff assist with laundry, housekeeping, shopping and preparing meals, and help with errands. Duties also include assisting special needs patients with transfers from/to bed, bathing, dressing, grooming and assisting with personal support equipment such as wheelchairs, manual/electric lifts, and leg braces, etc.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provides full range of services according to the Individual Service Plan (ISP).

  2. Assists participant in completing personal care routine such as bathing, brushing teeth, shaving, dressing, undressing, transferring, toileting, tying shoes, combing hair, health maintenance practices, medication reminders, range of motion exercises, positioning, etc., as required by the ISP.

  3. Observes and reports participant conditions and changes to the Supervisor.

  4. Transports individuals to health maintenance appointments, recreational and community activities, as required by the ISP.

  5. Acts as Initial Reporter, following all Program and Agency incident reporting policies and processes.

  6. Records accurate start time and end time, utilizing electronic Telephony System.

  7. Plans, assists and provides guidance with independent activities of daily living such as laundry, light housekeeping, meal preparation, appointment scheduling, communication, transportation, etc., as required by the ISP.

  8. Completes Orientation and meets 24-hour annual training requirements as specified by the Office of Developmental Programs and Policy and Procedure trainings as required by the Organization and other regulatory Agencies.

  9. Completes and submits required documentation accurately and timely, including but not limited to outcome-based service notes, general case notes, expenses supported by the ISP and transportation records, utilizing electronic Consumer Services Information System and associated technology as needed.

  10. Provides behavioral support and guidance to the individual in accordance with the ISP as needed to maintain an environment which is free from restraint.

  11. Attends annual ISP and required Critical Revision meetings as requested.

  12. Assists with homework assignments, reading, writing and environmental stimulation activities, as required by the ISP.

Required Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older Ability to lift or transfer up to 100 lbs Valid driver's license/auto insurance Ability to obtain ACT 33/34 and FBI clearances required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED

Previous experience or exposure to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
