Job Summary:

Raytheon is seeking a Systems Engineer for satellite Operations and Maintenance (O&M) positions. The selected candidate will join a skilled O&M team working in a 24/7 operations environment. Availability to work overtime, non-scheduled call-in working a combination of day staff and shift schedules, assigned based on the dynamic needs of the team. The O&M team is responsible for all aspects of Operations Planning and Command and Control, including monitoring day-to-day activities as well as identifying and solving challenging problems as they occur. After completion of comprehensive on-the-job training, the candidate will be part of a certified team of subject matter experts that are integral to our customer's success .

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Create and/or implement a daily operations plan using complex software and hardware systems.

  • Obtain/maintain technical knowledge of a large repository of formal procedures with the responsibility to accurately select and apply the correct procedure(s) depending on the specific scenario at hand.

  • Obtain/apply technical knowledge on various hardware subsystems.

  • Document discrepancies as they occur. Implement workarounds and contingency plans to minimize impacts of system anomalies .

  • Contribute to the testing, readiness, training, and implementation of new ground software deliveries.

  • Cross-train in other operator positions as assigned and assist with training of other personnel on the contract team.

  • Work in an adaptable small team environment (3-7 people)

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 2 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent.

  • Critical thinking toward problem solving in time-critical situations.

  • Follow/implement technical instructions or procedures documents

  • An active and in-scope TS/SCI with CI Poly U.S. security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Providing/receiving training to/from a wide range of learning/teaching styles

  • Virtual team environment

  • Windows and UNIX platform

  • Perl, Python, VBA, and/or other scripting languages.

  • Microsoft Office suite

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
