Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a Field Engineering Specialist at the White Sands Complex in Las Cruces, NM.This position will be supporting NASA Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution contract (SENSE).

Role/Responsibilities:

As a Member of the White Sands Complex (WSC) Maintenance Team, the Field Engineering Specialist performs a variety of complex duties to support real-time satellite operations. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing engineering and maintenance support for the High Rate Data Switch (HDRS) at the White Sands Complex (WSC) entire System and Subsystems.

  • Providing maintenance and bench repair support to Low Voltage power supplies.

  • Providing engineering and maintenance support for the USS-CR Wide Band Demod and Wide Band PTE modem at the White Sands Complex (WSC) entire System and Subsystems.

  • Providing engineering and maintenance support for the Antenna IFL Control and Status equipment at the White Sands Complex (WSC) entire System and Subsystems.

  • Provide OJT training, generate documentation support, support the installation of Firmware/Software deliveries, and provide technical input for correcting deficiencies or to provide enhancements.

  • Promotes a positive professional image to personnel and is supportive of a collaborative team environment.

  • Promotes workplace and personnel safety by identifying and mitigating risks and intervenes to prevent mishaps.

  • Perform other system maintenance functions as assigned by the HMD Manager.

  • This position is subject to call-in; weekend, holiday and overtime assignments.

Skills/Experience:

  • Required to have skills and knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) component level repair experience with phasing capability (Phase Modulation/PLLs) as well as knowledge of IT network architecture, network protocol standards (TCP, UDP, IP) and computer architecture and operating systems.

  • Must have digital component level repair experience.

  • Must have working knowledge of Digital Receiver systems, with component level repair and testing experience.

  • Must have working knowledge of Power Supply systems, with component level repair and testing experience.

  • Must have a familiarity with RF Up Converter, Modulators/Demodulators, and (TTL) Transistor-transistor logic / (ECL) Emitter-Coupled Logic technology.

  • Experience responding quickly and effectively during critical and emergency situations

  • Under limited supervision candidate must be able to isolate hardware problems to the lowest line replaceable unit level and return the system to full operational capability.

  • Ability to conduct or supervise the performance of equipment evaluation and testing.

  • Develop Engineering Changes (EC's), Local Operating Procedures (LOP's), and Preventive Maintenance Plans (PM's)

  • Ability to train and lead technicians in component repair.

  • Ability to coordinate the installation of equipment and/or replacement of parts and ensures all necessary adjustments to the system and chassis are made.

Experience/Education

  • An Associate's degree and 2 or 6 years of related experience is required (depending on Level). In lieu of formal education, 3 years of additional related experience is allowable.

Clearance:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship or U.S. naturalization

• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
