Job Description

If you are passionate about computer graphics and working with leading graphics engineers on Intel's latest GPU architecture, then our Client GFX and AI Graphics Engineering (CGAI) Team has opportunities for you. Client GFX and AI Graphics Engineering (CGAI) is responsible for delivering industry-leading GPU (3D, media, compute, and display) hardware intellectual property (IP) blocks and system-on-chip (SoC) products for discrete graphics and throughput computing. We strive to lead the industry through continuous innovation and world-class engineering. We are looking for a Discrete Graphics SoC Firmware Architect to work on next generation SoCs to develop low-power and low-latency solutions. You will be collaborating with SoC and IP hardware architects, platform, firmware and software teams to analyze, architect and implement boot, reset and low-power solutions for next generation Intel GPU products. In this position you will be working on managing boot, reset and power efficiently for Client/Server DGPU SoC products, with focus on Reset, Active power management, idle power management and thermal management.

Job responsibilities:

  • Create firmware architecture specifications by working with SoC HW Architects in defining right hardware/firmware interfaces for Graphics SoC boot, reset and power management

  • Researching and architecting power management techniques at SoC level for maintaining sustained throughput and burst performance by comprehending diverse workloads and product configurations

  • Bring system perspective in platform level reviews for critical power management flows and HW/FW/Driver interactions and drive optimal solutions

  • Oversee firmware design and implementation by participating in design reviews and hands on coding where needed

  • Collaborate with internal and external team members on architectural decisions, development flows and methodologies.

  • Provide Technical Leadership to team while contributing individually

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related STEM field with 10+ yrs. of relevant industry experience orMaster's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related STEM field with 8+ years of relevant industry experience, orPhD in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related STEM field with 5+ years of relevant industry experience

  • 8+ years of experience in SoC/Embedded Systems

  • 7+ years of firmware/software validation experience dealing with hardware level intricacies

  • 2+ years of experience in defining features and firmware architecture

  • Knowledge of power management features and functionality, including: power states/flows, power consumption, power delivery, reset sequence, OS power management, device power management and stability between power management subsystem/domains and other subsystems in the System setting

  • Debugging techniques local/remote, including profilers, debuggers, and system monitoring hardware desired.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficient in microcontroller environment (Tensilica/ARC/ARM Cortex M/RISC-V or similar).

  • Knowledge of PCIe subsystem and link/state management

  • Close interactions with multiple GPU IPs to understand their Power management requirements, translating them to system level flows and creating algorithms for best in class Leakage/Dynamic power numbers

  • Prior Experience in SoC development / Embedded systems is mandatory. Exposure to CPU, Graphics, Media, Display, Memory, Imaging, Audio, IO systems is highly desired with strong expertise in any of these domains

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado, New York, Washington, California: $162,041.00-$259,425.00

*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience

Working Model

This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
