WestRock Company Press Operator- 2nd Shift in Lansing, Michigan

WestRock in Lansing, MI is looking for an Offset Press Operator to assist with our 2nd Shift (Monday- Friday 3pm-11pm). We offer full training for this position.

EXTRA $2.00/hour shift differential for this role!

Pay is dependent on experience.

HIRING IMMEDIATELY

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assembles materials, bend plates and stages stock at assigned unit for the next job run.

  • Brings all adjustments back to centerline before starting next job or form.

  • Accurately sets up feeder and feed board to operate with a minimum amount of kick off’s during operation. (Train helpers in correct feed operations).

  • Hangs plates; removes and gums used plates.

  • Fills ink fountain; mixes fountain solutions at correct pH and conductivity. Sets dampening system.

  • Registers images from unit to unit, runs samples to make adjustments to ensure print quality and color setting in accordance with densitometer readings.

  • Makes final pre-run inspection of job and approves run start.

  • Performs routine adjustments during press run.

  • Properly disposes of assigned press waste material.

  • Maintains color and position to approved press sheet. Is responsible for overall job quality.

  • Enters job numbers, cost centers, operation codes, quantities processed and customer into labor terminal.

  • Performs preventative maintenance of production units, as required.

  • Improves skills by learning from others and studying written procedures and instructions.

  • Suggests improvement in work procedures.

  • Operates or assists on other pressroom equipment as required.

  • Approves pharmaceutical inserts.

  • Works with Management and Prepress to address print related issues.

  • Oversees weekly preventative maintenance duties for all press production units.

  • Ensures that fountain solution PH and conductivity is recorded daily.

  • Communicates press performance issues and need repairs to Management.

  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.

  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Must have the ability to meet and/or pass the minimum requirement on a mechanical test

  • Must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

  • Must have the ability to perform intermediate arithmetic dealing with decimals, fractions, ratios, etc.

  • Must have basic computer skills.

  • Must have the ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

  • Must pass color vision and color hue tests.

  • Must be able to maintain good attendance.

  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation
