TriTech Enterprise Systems, Inc. Software Specialist (zTPF) in Lanham, Maryland

TriTech Enterprise Systems is seeking a ' zTPF System Software Specialist' to support a federal project. This candidate will provide  technical programming support, system upgrades, problem resolution, and remote training for various Computing Centers.  

Other task could include:

  • Support for the z/TPF operating system environment (hardware and software). 

  • Apply experience and knowledge of IBM Message Queue (MQ) family of message-oriented middleware products.

  • Support the IBM zSeries mainframes and any other hardware or software upgrades acquired by the IRS for SACS and the z/TPF environment.

  • Engage the z/TPF Lab Support as required to provide technical support in the resolution of software related technical issues. 

  • Support the ECCs in the following ways:

  • Providing 24x7 remote assistance for the SACS production systems.

  • Providing the ECCs with operational and functional procedures.

  • Fulfilling requests to train the personnel at the ECCs in several areas, including problem resolution. IBM personnel currently conduct “Learning Thursdays”, and this practice will continue.

  • Assist with system tuning and daily error analysis and corrections.

  • Help junior level and other programmers, where needed, including on-the-job technical training and mentoring. IBM personnel currently conduct “Learning Thursdays”, and this practice will continue.

  • Provide technical support for the testing and implementation of IPv6 as required by the IRS. .

  • Provide technical support for the testing and implementation of database encryption on z/TPF.

  • Provide  support and follow the transmittal implementation process to implement all SACS and TOS programming changes in accordance with IRS policies and guidelines. 

  • Develop operational and technical training materials and conduct SACS technical on-the-job-training for all shifts

  • Develop procedures and drawings that document the z/TPF SACS processes, configurations, and topology.

  • Prepare reports to assist the IRS’s ESD and ECC staff in troubleshooting and/or determining solutions to problems. 

  • Develop procedures to monitor the z/TPF SACS environment and identify conditions that allow IRS personnel to take remedial action before real-time outages or performance problems occur. 

  • Support Disaster Recovery (DR) testing, develop local implementation and daily Operational procedures, and train ECC-MEM and ECC-MTB personnel in DR processes related to SACS. 

  • Identify and document methods that can be used to enhance z/TPF SACS notification and automation functions. 

    Required skills/Level of Experience :

  • 10+ years of experience installing, customizing, and maintaining z/TPF operating system

  • 10+ years of experience Supporting a stabilized IBM mainframe system environment

  • Experienced with SMP/E and Mainframe Software Maintenance with performance, problem determination and resolution skills

  • Perform systems planning, installation/decommission, configuration/customization, and patching

  • Experience defining and validating data encryption methods and security requirements

  • Experience monitoring and managing security reporting ensuring systems are compliant

  • Assist systems programmers in the design and management of all regions and LPARs

  • Executes regulatory and operational control activities related to user provisioning, de-provisioning and access re-certification

  • Proficient in Audits
