Science Systems and Applications, Inc. Property Custodian in Lanham, Maryland

Science Systems and Applications Inc (SSAI) is seeking a property custodian to support designated codes at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). This is a full-time contractor position with benefits, working alongside NASA civil servants and other NASA contractors. This position is located at GSFC in Greenbelt, MD.

The selected individual will:

  • Follow established GSFC procedures in processing and reporting on property loan requests: prepare property loan agreement forms for end users, obtain the required signatures/approvals, submit and report, as applicable.

  • Input and update required information in applicable electronic property database(s); assist in generating reports, as necessary.

  • Assist in performing regular physical inventory of government property to maintain cognizance of overall property status within designated codes.

  • Assist in facilitating shipping orders.

  • Support the property custodian as needed, working toward becoming skilled and adept enough to assume primary responsibility as property custodian for multiple codes.

  • Report property management highlights, task work, and problems monthly, via email.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent and at least two years’ experience in property management, or in a related area, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Must be friendly and customer service oriented.

  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Skilled in performing administrative activities requiring attention to detail and prompt responses and actions.

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Ability to successfully pass a background investigation and obtain a NASA badge.

  • US citizenship.

  • Familiarity with relevant NASA forms and protocols.

    Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
