Science Systems and Applications, Inc. Program Manager - Science, Engineering, and Technology Support in Lanham, Maryland

Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI) has an opening for a Program Manager (PM) to direct efforts supporting NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The PM directs, monitors, and controls all aspects of contract performance to ensure that all projects and tasks are accomplished within the prescribed schedule and cost parameters. The PM interfaces with customers to capture project requirements, obtains feedback on performance and presents status reports. The PM oversees development of project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, risk identification, contingency approaches, and allocation of available resources. The PM approves recruitment and assignment of project personnel. The PM directly supervises Group Managers and PMO personnel on the contract. The PM reports to the Chief Operating Officer and customer personnel on contract matters, ensures that all deliverables are met, and is responsible for all aspects of quality control on the contract. The PM is a member of SSAI's Senior Management Team and participates actively in corporate initiatives including Business Development (marketing and proposal efforts), strategic planning, employee mentoring, community support activities, and corporate social functions.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in a physical science, math or engineering discipline and 15 years of professional experience including experience managing groups of 50 or more employees involved in science, engineering, and technology support

  • Experience must include contract administration, project planning, personnel selection and scheduling, and progress monitoring and reporting.

  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills are required.

  • Experience in government contracting environment.

    Desired Qualifications:

  • MS/MA and 15 years of experience; advanced degree strongly desired

  • Knowledge of NASA/GSFC Science and Engineering organizations, and Project Management practices and standards strongly desired.

  • Experience in project management practices, including portfolio management, strategic planning, risk assessment and mitigation, earned value management, and performance-based contracting.

  • Experience in the NASA contracting environment strongly desired.

  • Experience developing or reviewing proposals for NASA contracts strongly desired.

  • PMP Certification desired.
