Science Systems and Applications, Inc. Carbon Cycle and Modeling Intern in Lanham, Maryland
Science Systems and Applications Inc. (SSAI) is seeking interns to support carbon cycle modeling using AI/ML techniques with Earth-observing datasets. The intern will support the development of tools, techniques, and algorithms for the assessment of terrestrial carbon stores within vegetation using satellite data.
Duties Include but no limited to:
Developing AI/ML algorithms to identify vegetation.
Manually identifying vegetation from Earth-observing imagery.
Working with a team to develop novel approaches for carbon cycle modeling.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course of study in computer science, biology, environmental science, data science, or similar degree program.
Candidate must have experience with coding in Python, R, MATLAB, or similar languages.
Permanent Resident or US Citizen required.
Desired:
Experience with developing and/or training AI/ML models.
Experience with GIS datasets.
Ability to collaborate within a team environment and work independently to deliver individual contributions.
