Hana Industries, Inc. is recruiting for Armed Protective Security Officers (PSO) to join our team at the National Capitol Region Buildings for the Department of Homeland Security in New Carrollton, MD.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Protective Security Officer is responsible for following DHS security protocols and is concerned with all matters relating to the security of the stakeholders, which include:

  • Perform Access Control Duties to ensure only authorized personnel and vehicles are allowed access to the facility

  • Perform Screening Duties to ensure only authorized commercial vehicles and cargo are allowed access to the facility

  • May execute emergency closure procedures (ECP) during emergencies to ensure all ingress and egress of personnel, property, equipment, vessels or vehicles are denied

  • May provide roving guard services and Perimeter and Interior patrol that monitor facilities to ensure security breaches and criminal or suspicious activities are detected and reported in a timely manner

  • May provide escort and courier services to ensure safe and timely delivery of personnel and property

  • Assisting in plans and procedures to be followed in the event of any major catastrophe, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, conflagration, and hostile acts to ensure adequate security measures are maintained within the command

Requirements

In order to be considered, candidates must meet ALL of the following requirements and examination results must be favorable as defined by the DHS contractual requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain a DHS Suitability Letter Clearance (Candidates with DHS Suitability current Preferred)

  • Maryland Security Guard License

  • Maryland Handgun Permit

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years military or National Guard (active duty or reserve) or equivalent experience in armed security services (police, law enforcement, civilian, etc.)

  • Prior DHS contract PSO experience preferred

  • Drug Testing

  • Basic medical screening of good physical health

  • Must be 21 and a citizen of the United States

  • High School Diploma.
